Summary

Theoretical background, practical application and first experiences with a rather new psychological intervention for treating panic disorder are described. In the first place this intervention targets the falsification of expectations that specific somatic symptoms predict a full-blown panic attack. At the same time the intervention activates the patient’s self-confidence that he is able to bring upcoming panic attacks under his control.
